Indications:
Cryptococcosis, including cryptococcal meningitis and other forms of infection (e.g. lung, skin). Prevention of cryptococcosis in AIDS patients, patients after organ transplantation who receive immunosuppressive therapy.
Generalized candidiasis, including candidemia, disseminated candidiasis and other forms of invasive Candida infection (lesions of the abdominal cavity, endocarditis, eyes, respiratory and urinary tracts).
Prophylaxis of candidiasis in patients with malignancies who receive cytotoxic and immunosuppressive therapy and are prone to such infections due to chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Candidiasis of the mucous membranes: oropharynx, esophagus, non-invasive bronchopulmonary candidiasis, candiduria, chronic atrophic oral candidiasis (resulting from the use of dentures). Prevention of relapse of oropharyngeal candidiasis in AIDS patients.
Genital candidiasis, including vaginal candidiasis, acute or recurrent, and Candida balanitis. Prophylactic use to reduce the recurrence of vaginal candidiasis.
Dermatomycoses - athlete's foot, dermatomycosis, groin ringworm, pityriasis versicolor, athlete's nails (onychomycosis) and candida impairment of skin.
Side effects:
General: fatigue, malaise, asthenia, chills.
CNS: headache, rarely - seizures, dizziness, paresthesia, tremor.
The skin and its appendages: rash, itching, very rarely – Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema polymorphous.
The digestive tract: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea.
The bile-excreting system: toxic liver injury.
The blood formation and lymphatic systems: leukopenia, including neutropenia and agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.
The immune system: anaphylaxis, including angioedema, swelling of the face and skin itching, hives.
The cardio-vascular system: an increase in the Q-T interval, ventricular arrhythmia.
Most often the side effects occurred in HIV-infected patients.
Contraindications:
The drug should not be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as for children under 16 years of age.
Fluconazole increases the effect of anticoagulants, oral hypoglycemic agents, hypothiazide, phenytoin.
