Indications:
Infectious-inflammatory pathology, which has developed as a result of infection by bacteria susceptible to Levaquin:

infections of the abdominal cavity;

exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;

community-acquired pneumonia;

prostate gland inflammation;

acute sinusitis;

uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis);

bacteremia / septicemia;

infectious pathology of soft tissue and skin.

Side effects:
Digestive system: diarrhea, nausea, increased liver enzymes, rarely - severe diarrhea with blood in the stool, sometimes - the loss of appetite, abdominal pain, vomiting, dyspeptic disorders, very rare - hepatitis.

The immune system: a sudden drop in blood pressure until the development of shock, allergic pneumonitis, increased sensitivity to UV and solar radiation, vasculitis, edema of the face and throat, other skin and mucous membranes (very rare), skin redness and itching (sometimes), rarely - reactions of anaphylactic and anaphylactoid character (bronchospasm, pronounced asphyxia, hives), in some cases - exudative erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome - toxic epidermal necrolysis.

The peripheral or central nervous system: sometimes - numbness, sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, rarely - psychotic reactions (sometimes accompanied by hallucinations), tremor, anxiety, depression, mental confusion, psychomotor agitation, convulsions; very rare – disturbance in vision, smell, hearing, taste sensitivity, deterioration of tactile sensitivity of receptors.

The musculoskeletal system: lesions of tendons, muscle and joint pain (rare); tendon rupture, muscle weakness - very rarely; in some cases - rhabdomyolysis.

Cardio-vascular system: QT prolongation on the ECG (in some cases), rarely - hypotension, palpitation; very rarely - vascular collapse.

The blood formation system: sometimes – reduction of the leukocytes and eosinophils level, the development of severe infections; thrombocytopenia and neutropenia (rare); in some cases - pancytopenia and hemolytic anemia.

Other: fever, asthenia (weakness).

The use of Levaquin can provoke a secondary infection or superinfection.

Contraindications:

pathological tendon state after use of other fluoroquinolones in past history;

childhood and adolescence (under 18 years);

epilepsy;

lactation;

pregnancy;

individual hypersensitivity to the components of Levaquin.
