Zithromax is a broad-spectrum antibiotic.
How to use:
Before assigning the drug to the patient it is desirable to determine the sensitivity to microorganisms that cause the disease in this patient. Zithromax should always be taken one hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. The drug is taken 1 time per day.
Adults with infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, infections of skin and soft tissue are appointed 0.5 g in day 1, then 0.25 g from day 2 to day 5 or 0.5 g daily within 3 days (course dose is 1,5 g).
In acute infections of genitourinary tract singly 1 g (2 tablets of 0,5 g) is prescribed.
In case of Lyme disease (borreliosis) for the treatment of the first stage 1 g (2 tablets of 0,5 g) in day 1 and 0.5 g daily from day 2 to day 5 (course dose 3 g) is appointed.
Side effects:
Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rare - vomiting and bloating (gas flatulence in the intestines). Transient increase in liver enzymes is possible. Skin rash is extremely rare.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics. Caution should be exercised in the appointment of the drug to patients with severely impaired liver and kidney function. During pregnancy and breastfeeding Zithromax is not appointed, except for the cases when the benefits of the drug exceed the risks. The drug should be prescribed with care to patients with allergic reactions in past history.
